January 2008,
"Cowboys Camp" : Manny and Mike Janyk, both grads of the
Whistler Mountain Ski Club will stage a ski camp April 24th - 27th at
Whistler/Blackcomb for talented young athletes who may not otherwise be
able to afford such a camp. "This is for kids who really have potential,
but need that little lift. We're saying hey you have a lot of talent and
we don't want to waste that. There are people around that want you to
succeed." says Manny. "Just because you're in a Club in Smithers or
Prince George and you can't afford to go to Europe every year, there's
one more camp. It's one more step to making the BC Team, and everything
is funded."
The camp is open to first or second year FIS level racers. To be
selected or for additional information they must write to
cowboyscamp@live.com and
demonstrate their passion and dedication to the sport and a financial
need. The Resort Municipality of Whistler and Whistler/Blackcomb will
cover accommodation costs, hill space and lift tickets. Manny and
Mike will take care of the rest.
