IN MEMORY OF JIM OSBORNE

Manny's Grampa, Dr. Jim Osborne, died on August 30, 2008 at the age of 84 after skiing more than his share of great runs.

". . . when he was seventy-five, he skied a total of 89 days on the mountain, a feat that he described as the "zenith" of his skiing career. When he was seventy-eight, he received the Old Guy award at the Dave Murray Ski Camp. He finally put away his skis when he was eighty-one."

Donations in Jim's name may be made to the Cowboys Camp, a camp that Manny and Mike Janyk developed in order to give back to a sport that has meant so much to them.

Please make cheques payable to BC Alpine and mail to:

Or donate online by clicking on the DONATE button at the top of the column on the left.

JANUARY 2008, "COWBOYS CAMP" IS BORN:
In order to provide opportunities for more young racers, Manny and Mike converted the Get Up and Go awards to a full-blown, fully-funded spring training camp.

The camp is open to first or second year FIS level racers. To be selected or for additional information they must write to cowboyscamp@live.com  and demonstrate their passion and dedication to the sport and a financial need.

For more information or if you'd like to contribute in any way  please contact Kathy Stahr at kathys@bcalpine.com or cowboyscamp@live.com
Some donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be issued

APRIL 24 - 27, 2008: Manny and Mike Janyk, both grads of the Whistler Mountain Ski Club staged a ski camp at Whistler/Blackcomb for talented young athletes who may not otherwise be able to afford such a camp. "This is for kids who really have potential, but need that little lift. We're saying hey you have a lot of talent and we don't want to waste that. There are people around that want you to succeed." says Manny. "Just because you're in a Club in Smithers or Prince George and you can't afford to go to Europe every year, there's one more camp. It's one more step to making the BC Team, and everything is funded."

2005 - 2007
THE MANUEL OSBORNE-PARADIS "GET-UP-AND-GO" AWARD

He's launching his "Get-Up-And-Go Award" for the 2005/06 season, offering a bursary to two FIS athletes who demonstrate some of the qualities Manny himself has exemplified along the road to success.
