As we near the end of another remarkable ski season, planning starts for a very special ski experience- The Mike and Manny Cowboy Camp.

As many are aware, the now famous fourth annual Cowboy Camp (April 25th – 30th) is designed and coached by two Canadian ski heroes, Mike Janyk and Manny Osborne-Paradis, and supported by fellow Canadian Alpine Ski Team members. The Camp provides a “once-in-a-life” time opportunity for twelve (6 male / 6 female) deserving young racers from across BC to train for four days in Whistler with Canada’s best ski racers and it is “free of charge” to the young racers. Why do Manny and Mike hold the annual camp?

“When we were growing up we watched our families make a lot of tough sacrifices to help us chase our ski racing dreams.

That’s why we created “the Cowboy Camp” four years ago – to give young skiers from less fortunate financial situations the opportunity to succeed and move forward at pivotal points in their careers – when the costs and competitiveness of the sport begin to rise.” Although Mike, Manny and other donors generosity support this Camp, they are still short to cover all the costs and grow the Camp.

To secure additional support for this special Camp, Jacquie and I invite you to attend a reception on Saturday April 30th starting at 7:00 pm at our Vancouver home – 1491 Nanton Avenue. Reception tickets are $125 each and are tax deductable.

Mike and Manny will be at the reception to share their experiences from the 2011 World Cup season and bring stories of this year’s Cowboy Camp.

The goal for the reception is to raise $ 4000 and it is most appreciated if you could buy a couple of tickets, if you cannot make the reception, it will be super if you could still contribute to this cause.

Kent our physio was able to clean up the stitches and under all that blood is just a few little cuts.  Doesn’t make me look so tough now does it?

The last couple of days have been great! The calf isn’t causing me as much pain and I’m able to take myself to the gym now to be worked on.  All and all things are looking up.
